Sacraments are a gift from God that allow us to have direct access to Jesus Christ, our savior. All Church activity leads to this encounter with Jesus, particularly in the celebration of the Sunday Mass. We desire all to experience this presence of God in our midst. Here is some helpful information on Sacramental life in our parish:
Baptism
Baptism bestows the gift of divine life upon us and is the gateway for the life of grace in God’s Church. If you are interested in receiving baptism for yourself or for a child, please contact the parish to take the next step. We are here to help. Have questions about choosing Godparents? Click here.
Confirmation
The fullness of the Holy Spirit is bestowed on us in the Sacrament of Confirmation. Children in the Diocese of Fargo receive the Sacrament of Confirmation and First communion in the 3rd grade. Older children and adults go through a preparation provided by the parish. Contact Holy Spirit parish for more information on receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Both Baptism and Confirmation involve the selection of a Godparent or Sponsor. Here is the parish Godparent/sponsor form.
The Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA) is the official name given to the process in which someone enters the life of the Catholic Church. Contact the parish for more information.
Eucharist
The Mass is the celebration of the Sacrament of the Eucharist in which God Himself physically comes to us. While those not fully initiated into the Catholic faith are not able to receive communion, all are welcome to attend at any of our Mass times.
Reconciliation or Confession
God’s mercy is poured out in a unique way when Jesus Himself acting through a priest forgives one's sins in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Partake in this gift at one of the regularly scheduled Confession times or schedule an appointment.
Anointing of the Sick
Scripture speaks of sending for a priest when someone is sick. The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick is administered inorder to bring Christ’s healing as well as connecting ones suffering to those of Jesus. Call the parish to request this Sacrament.
Marriage
The Sacrament of Matrimony joins a man and woman together in an indissoluble bond, in faithful and fruitful nuptial love. Check out the Marriage Preparation Guidelines for more information about getting married at Holy Spirit Parish.
Holy Orders
The Sacrament of Holy Orders is the Sacrament that is received by those who are Deacons, Priests and Bishops. This Sacrament conforms the person in a special way to Jesus.
